1832 Fort Stockade Replica
Visit the reproduction of the 1832 stockade built by General Henry Atkinson during the 1832 Blackhawk War. Originally named Fort Koshkonong, this authentic replica is located on Riverside Drive in the city later named after its founder, Fort Atkinson.

The Lake Mills-Aztalan Historical Museum interprets both pioneer and Native American history in the region. The museum's exhibits are housed in seven buildings on the site. Also of note is the princess burial mound.
Carlin House and Turner Museum
OPEN: Saturdays 10am-2pm. Special tours can be arranged by phone call. Admission to the Carlin House and the Turner Museum is free.
The home of the Palmyra Historical Society features local WWII artifacts among its many exhibits of local and area interest. The Carlin House was a gift from Fisk Carlin, the descendant of two prominent pioneer families, the Welds and the Carlins. The house has been restored to the 1890-1900 period to reflect the era of the birth and early childhood of Mr. Carlin who was its last occupant. The Turner Museum is dedicated to the memory of the Robert H. Turner family, a prominent family in Palmyra. Furnishings and equipment were bought with donations from our members and friends.
Hoard Historical Museum
Summer (Memorial-Labor Day): Tue-Sat 9:30-4:30, Sun 11-3. Winter (Labor-Memorial Day): Tue-Sat 9:30-3:30.
There is no fee for visiting the museum; but donations are accepted.
The Hoard Historical Museum houses 16 exhibit rooms, ranging from period displays to modern exhibits. The Museum and National Dairy Shrine Visitors' Center are both handicap accessible; the Foster House, Fort Atkinson's first frame home, are not wheelchair accessible.

Kettle Moraine State Forest
Forest Headquarters & Museum
Office: Mon-Sat 9-4, Sun 11-4. The Southern Unit covers 20,300 acres through three counties - Waukesha, Jefferson and Walworth. Established in 1936, the theme of the Kettle Moraine Southern Unit centers around the last ice age - Wisconsin Glacier and the glacial landforms created 10,000 years ago. It is described as a collection of hills, ridges and depressions. One of the best known features are the kettle holes which inspired the name. Occasionally ponds developed in the deeper kettle holes.
Be sure to visit the museum at the forest headquarters.
Octagon House Museum
The historic Octagon House Museum is owned by the Watertown Historical Society. It includes five floors, 57 rooms and vintage furnishings. It's also the site of the First Kindergarten in the United States.
Fully guided tours every hour on the hour. Five floors with 57 rooms and vintage furnishings. John Richards, a pioneer Watertown settler, designed and built the Octagon House, completed in 1854. The Octagon House is one of the largest single-family residences of the Pre-Civil War Period in Wisconsin. OPEN:
