Bring the family for fun in
Fond du Lac's 400-acre Lakeside Park, on Lake Winnebago, Wisconsin's largest inland lake. Walk-up lighthouse. Picnic areas, shelters, playground, (leer park, ball diamonds, marina, and boat launch ramps. Train ride, old fashioned carousel, bumper boats, aqua bikes, and
canoes. (See Recreation section.) Park glows with thousands of holiday lights and animated displays including holiday music. Located at end of N Main St and end of N Park Ave.
Ledge View Nature Center
Three caves open to the public on weekends May-Sept. Cave tours led by center naturalists. Maple syruping March-April. Park features two miles of trails, 60-foot observation tower, live animals, and exhibits. Snowshoes for rent. Cross-country ski trails. Open year round. Mon-Fri 8-4:30pm, Sat-Sun 104:30pm. 23 miles N of FDL. Hwy 151 to G to W2348 Short Rd. Call for cave tour times and dates.

Climb this 40-ft tall working lighthouse for a spectacular view of Lake Winnebago and Lakeside Park. The city's signature attraction and the most photographed structure in town. Built in 1933 during the Great Depression, wooden Cape Cod style painted white with a flagstone base. Decorated and spotlighted for the holidays every December. Self-guided tours May 1-Oct 15, weather permitting. 8am to dusk. Lakeside Park, N end of Main St. Free.

Kettle Moraine State Forest-Northern Unit
A 29,268-acre gift of the glacier--the rolling, wooded landscape is dotted with serene lakes and offers a unique outdoor recreational experience of endless variety. Henry S. Reuss Ice Age Visitor Center, on State Highway 67, 1/8 mile south of County Highway G, is open seven days a week, (920) 533-8322. Forest Headquarters, , is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
