The Wooden Chicken -- Michael J. Feeney
219 E Main St., Mount Horeb, WI 53572 608-437-7185 Fax 608-437-4630 www.woodenchicken.com
mfeeney@woodenchicken.com
Mount Horeb woodcarver Mike Feeney has developed a real thing for trolls. Not only does each troll have a name, but the details in his carvings are carefully selected to enhance either the troll's name or occupation, such as The Gardener and The Accordion Player. Shown in his workroom, Mike displays a clay model of The Tourist. Not all of Mike's models make it to a finished project. One such piece became dead art because a knot showed up where the eye would be, a flaw Mike considered too distracting. The Peddler appears to be walking the streets of Mount Horeb, shopping his wares to prospective customers.

My art actually begins during the times I'm out somewhere and see something happening. If the event makes it onto a piece of paper, it might or might not make it to the painting stage. I do lots more drawings than paintings. But say it does. The sex, age, clothes of the person or people portrayed would be changed to protect individual identity. (If you believe you recognize someone you know, it's purely coincidental.) I make all my stories/poems up!

"As a watercolorist, I've always enjoyed the mystery this medium bestows. I can express beauty and wonder and it may never be the same twice. Every brush stroke is a pleasure and a completed painting or design is a joy to see. For me, the purpose of putting artwork in front of someone elses eyes is to make that person feel good. "

5233 Enchanted Valley Road, Cross Plains Wisconsin 53528 608-798-1235 www.merr.com/users/pottery/
pottery@merr.com
Prairie Art Pottery reflects the simplicity found in nature. Pieces are either turned on the wheel or slab built, hand decorated, glazed, and then slowly fired in the kiln. The pottery is located in south central Wisconsin, surrounded by prairie grasses, wildflowers and woodlands. Many of these images are captured on the decorated forms.
As you enjoy these works of art, reflect back to a time when life was simple and the gentle wildflowers were in full bloom on the open prairies of Wisconsin.
